Internship Week 2 (February 3-February 9)

This week was a pretty eventful week, I’d say. To start, I finished the final copies of both the event flyer and the Instagram post for the flyer. With that being said, the two were posted at the beginning of the week.

On Tuesday, I was in the office again. I met one of the other interns that Allison hired for the semester. Allison had me teach the other intern how to use Canva, Infogram, and Piktochart. Then, Allison & I discussed more of what she wants for the video project I’ll be doing for her later. We also did more discussion for the other graphics she wants me to make for her for other events. After she read the blog post I wrote the week prior, she told me she actually has Jon’s contact info so she asked me to email him to get quotes for the blog post. I am in the process of setting an interview with him, now. I’ve been in contact with him throughout the week.

On Wednesday, I came back to the office again. Allison wants Three Rivers Music Therapy added to as many online therapy directories as possible. So, I spent the first 2 and a half hours in the office searching the internet for therapy directories. I was able to compile a huge list in that time. My next job was trying to make a list of local musicians to be featured on a new podcast that Allison wants to do for Three Rivers Music Therapy. I had less luck with this one, but I still found a few musicians I am waiting to hear back from.

Over the weekend, I worked from home. Allison sent me a picture of a graphic that she found that she wanted me to make my own version of for her page. So, I worked on a few rough drafts of that, and Allison will take a look at them this week when I go to the office again. I also made a rough draft of a post for an Instagram Story to help look for musicians for the podcast.

Internship Week 1 (January 27-February 2)

This week, I started my internship with Three Rivers Music Therapy, a new business in the Pittsburgh area. On Tuesday, I went to the office from 1pm-5pm for my first day. I met with my supervisor, Allison, and we discussed what projects I would be involved in throughout the semester. That was pretty much the first 30 minutes of my time there. The rest of my time that day was spent researching articles and videos about music therapy just to get myself familiarized with the topic, and to spark some ideas for a video project Allison would like me to create for her.

I was supposed to be in the office on Friday, but Allison said she wasn’t going to be there so I could choose to come in or do my work from home that day. Since I was feeling sick, I stayed home and worked on a rough draft of a flyer for her, promoting an event that she has coming up in March. I also made rough drafts for an Instagram post for that same event.

On Sunday, I spent my time researching more information about music therapy & writing a blog post about a music therapist that just won a Grammy award for a children’s album.
