April 13-April 19

As the semester winds down, I am getting less work from Allison. As I’ve stated previously, since the COVID-19 concerns started, I have really only been doing social media interactions. I’m still waiting for the content I need to finish the marketing video we worked on. If I don’t get any pictures or any additional footage, I’m just going to work with what I already have and do my best to fix it. I’ve also noticed that there hasn’t been a lot of new postings on the Three Rivers Music Therapy Instagram account or the Incadence accounts. I’ve still been doing my interactions, though. However, after tonight, I will be logged out of the accounts. Which means, other than fixing the marketing video, I will have no other work for Three Rivers Music Therapy. This basically ends my time with them. It’s unfortunate that I wasn’t able to do more of the work Allison wanted me to since she lost so many clients, but I still wouldn’t really change anything about my experience with Three Rivers Music Therapy.

April 6-April 12

Another slow week. I still did work with the social media interactions on both the Three Rivers Music Therapy & Incadence instagram accounts. Other than that, I discussed with Allison more about what I needed to do for the video, and began my work in editing the revised copy of that video. However, I did not get very far because I am still waiting for footage/photographs from Allison to incorporate into the video. Those should come this week, I will finish the revised copy, and then the video will be uploaded to the Three Rivers Music Therapy accounts.

March 30-April 5

As I mentioned previously, I have been working from home since the COVID-19 issue started. Again, since Allison is also working from home now & has had to cancel a lot of her appointments, she has taken over most of the work that she was giving me. I’m still in charge of social media interactions for now & she also gave me a few Instagram story templates to share on my own personal story to tag Incadence so my followers would see & potentially go follow Incadence. These are pretty much the only things I had to do this week. I’m going to be fixing the video I made for Three Rivers Music Therapy over the next week or two & that’ll be my final piece of work for them.

March 23-March 29

This week was… underwhelming. With everything with the virus going on, Allison has lost clients so there isn’t much work for her to do, so she has been taking over the jobs that she had me doing. I’ve given input on posts and graphics that are being made, but I really haven’t spent too much time, if any, actually making the graphics. Other than that, I did my Instagram interactions for Three Rivers Music Therapy & Incadence. Allison & I had a phone call where we discussed what would happen for the rest of the semester. I’m basically only going to be doing the social media interactions and working on the video corrections to give her a perfected video. If any random small tasks come up, she said she’d possibly assign them to me, but she’s not sure. So, things are going to be pretty slow moving forward, unfortunately.

March 16-March 22

This week, I completed the first draft of the marketing video for Three Rivers Music Therapy. I’m going to have some revisions to do in the coming week or two. I also continued my interactions with our followers on Instagram. Allison and I finally nailed down our posting schedule, too. I also spent time searching for motivational/inspirational quotes to post on the Incadence Instagram. Lastly, Allison & I discussed writing a more detailed job description for her internhip listing each semester. We also decided that she should have separate interns for Incadence & Three Rivers Music Therapy.

March 9-March 15

This week was pretty fair with the amount of work I completed. On Tuesday, I was at the office for a bit working on some graphics for Instagram, Facebook, and for Allison to use at events that she goes to for Three Rivers Music Therapy (pretty much promotional content for when she’s at conventions/conferences). On Wednesday, I finished those graphics, shared a post from our anxiety blog on the Incadence Facebook page, and also made an Instagram account for Incadence. We’re working on building a following for that, Allison just wants to make sure we post a few times before really promoting the fact that we’re on Instagram now. Allison & I have also come to the agreement that I will spend at least an hour every day interacting with our followers on the Three Rivers Music Therapy Instagram page. So, I did that everyday this week, as well. Lastly, on Sunday, I made corrections to one of the graphics I made for Allison, and then posted one more blog link on the Incadence Facebook page. Moving forward, the next week or two will definitely be busier, as I have to work on two videos for Allison.

March 2-March 8

During this week, I really only had a few small things to work on. Three Rivers Music Therapy recently hit 250 followers on Instagram, so I spent time making a post saying “thank you for 250 followers!” I made 2 or 3 copies of that before Allison came up with a different idea. We used a photo that her friend took of her & the other music therapists in the company holding a white banner that the photographer blanked out. So, I put the “thank you for 250 followers” message on the banner & posted that photo to Instagram. I posted two articles to the Incadence Facebook page this week, too. I think we’re set on that schedule for posting those articles every week. We’ve been trying to establish a schedule for the Incadence articles, so this should work out.

Since today (Sunday, March 8) is international women’s day, I posted a poll on our Instagram story asking if our followers knew that Three Rivers Music Therapy was a women-run/owned business. Then, I posted another photo to our story with #internationalwomensday.

Other than these smaller tasks, I did the typical tasks I’ve been doing (interacting with our followers/pages we follow, finding more articles to post on Incadence, etc.) Allison & I also discussed the next steps for our promotional video for the company. We’re going to shoot some more this week, and then she’s also going to send me photos/videos she’s already taken with clients/during sessions.

Lastly, Allison is finally ready to start the podcast, so I figured out who the first artist to be featured on the podcast would be. They’ll be recording that this week, so we’re excited to see how that goes & to get that up and running.

February 24-March 1

Compared to the last few weeks, this week was a very busy one. On Tuesday, we finally got started on the video we want to shoot for Three Rivers Music Therapy. I filmed one of Allison’s sessions with a child. Afterward, I filmed an interview with Allison. We spent some time discussing the next steps of the video. Then I went home and exported the video and interacted with more of our followers on Instagram.

On Wednesday, I spent more time interacting with our followers & their followers (liking their posts). I worked on an autism specific brochure for Allison. I finally posted another article to the Incadence facebook page. Lastly, I invited more people to like our Facebook pages & follow our Instagram page.

On Thursday, I had a much slower day. All I did was make a flyer for one of Allison’s friend’s photography business. He is advertising that he does sensory friendly shoots, so Allison had me make a flyer for that.

On Saturday, I interacted with the followers again (I think I’m going to make this a daily activity just to try to get more engagement on our page- hopefully it works). Allison & I discussed the next few articles to be posted on Incadence. I also watched more videos about music therapy to see what kind of approaches I can take when it comes to editing our video together.

Today (Sunday, March 1) is World Music Therapy Day. So, I spent a little bit of time today making a new graphic to post on our Instagram & Facebook pages. Since there was a hashtag for today, I spent a bit of time looking at posts under that hashtag and interacting with those to see if it would bring attention to our post. It got us a few more likes, so I guess it worked.

February 17-February 23

This was another slow week for me. On Tuesday, I worked from home and worked on a few rough drafts for a gift certificate Allison wanted made. On Wednesday, I was back in the office. I spent a few hours making more drafts for the gift certificate. I made a post for the Three Rivers Music Therapy’s Facebook and Instagram pages, pertaining to the Disability & Mental Health Summit that Three Rivers Music Therapy is participating in next month. I also made a post on the Incadence Facebook page.

I was also given a list of businesses in Pittsburgh that Allison said we can interact with (like/comment on their posts & on their followers’ posts) to potentially increase engagements on our page. I went through that list and liked posts from a decent amount of those pages. I was also told to make a note of how recent their latest post was, as well as how many followers they have on Instagram, and how many people like their page on Facebook. I was also told to give Three Rivers Music Therapy’s Facebook page a cover photo because it didn’t have one yet. I took a good 30 minutes trying to find one because all I was told was “just find a general picture for now, we can change it later,” and I didn’t want to post the wrong thing. The last thing I did this week was watch a few more videos regarding music therapy to get a sense of what I want to do for the video Allison wants me to make for her.

We start filming b-roll this week, so I’m looking forward to seeing how that goes for sure.

Internship Week 3 (February 10-February 16)

This week was actually kind of a slow one. I was supposed to do a phone interview with Jon Samson, but he ended up changing his mind and just emailed me the answers to my questions instead. I made a post on Instagram for Allison, but I had to delete it because the people she is working with for that event gave her wrong information. We’re working on getting everything fixed with that to repost, but it hasn’t happened yet. I went to the office for a few hours on Wednesday morning/afternoon, and then worked from home the rest of the day. I made some lists for Allison suggesting some ways to increase our following on instagram. I also had to find groups on Facebook for us to join regarding music therapy/therapy in general, autism, and mental health.

I was working on a few graphics to post on Facebook & Instagram, but I haven’t had any updates on when I can post them. Allison was featured on KDKA today for their Sunday Business Page. She wanted me to post about that for her, but she never got back to me about if my caption was alright.

Over the next few weeks, I will be filming for a marketing video we’re planning for Three Rivers Music Therapy. I’m really looking forward to that because it’ll keep me busy and I really enjoy shooting video.
